Bottling Plant Filters

TOMCO2 CO2 Filters

  • Remove liquid contaminants
  • Remove hydrocarbon vapors
  • Remove sulfur components
  • Continuously trap and drain liquids
  • Sterile air filter removes all viable organisms
  • High flow rates with low pressure drop

TOMCO2 filters will purify carbon dioxide to the present food grade levels desired for use in beverage bottling plants. Over the past years, there has been an increased requirement to eliminate impurities from carbon dioxide used in the beverage industry.

TOMCO2 is offering a filtration system for removal of liquid, gaseous, solid and bacterial contaminations.
Typical impurities to be removed include oils, aromatic hydrocarbons, aldehydes, sulfur compounds and bacteria. The TOMCO2 filtration system will greatly reduce off-taste, spoilage and health issues.

Liquid and Particulate Contaminant Removal

The first stage of filtration uses a TOMCO2 Grade BX coalescing filter cartridge to remove 99.99% of aerosol and particulate at 0.01 micron. Contaminates removed will include water, oil, other aerosols and particulate that may be present in the gaseous carbon dioxide stream.

Absorption of Vapor Contaminants

The second stage of filtration of the TOMCO2 system is designed to absorb hydrocarbon
vapors. Hydrocarbon contaminants of concern in carbon dioxide include benzene, hexane, oxygenated hydrocarbons, aldehydes, and other aromatic hydrocarbons. Typical contaminant levels of these impurities in carbon dioxide will be reduced to non-detectable, sub ppm levels.

The third stage of filtration is designed to absorb sulfur compounds. The absorption media is specifically formulated to remove hydrogen sulfide and carbonyl sulfide from carbon dioxide gas. These sulfur compounds can not be re-released into the gas stream once it has been absorbed. This unique media can reduce the contaminant level of sulfur compounds to non-detectable, sub ppm levels.

Bacterial Removal

The fourth stage of filtration in the TOMCO2 system is designed specifically to produce a commercially sterile grade of carbon dioxide by removing all bacteria down to a size of 0.1 micron. This stage will also act as a final particulate filter removing any solid contaminants down to 0.01 micron at a filtration efficiency of 99.99%. This final stage of filtration is in compliance with FDA regulations.
